Terms & Conditions

STEP-UK Test Terms & Conditions
 

These Terms and Conditions govern all STEP-UK assessments provided by 123 Global Education Limited (“the Company”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
 

By purchasing, registering for, or accessing any STEP-UK assessment, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms.


These Terms apply to:
 

• STEP-UK Secure English Proficiency Test
• STEP-UK English Level Check
• STEP-UK Junior Assessments
• STEP-UK Demo Trial
 

1. Eligibility
 

Candidates must:
 

• Provide accurate and complete personal information
• Register using their full legal name as it should appear on test records and certificates
• Be at least 18 years of age, or have parental/guardian consent for junior assessments

We reserve the right to refuse registration where information provided is inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading.
 

2. Nature of the Assessments
 

STEP-UK assessments are delivered online through authorised digital testing platforms.
 

Assessments may include evaluation of:
 

• Reading comprehension
• Listening comprehension
• Grammar and vocabulary
• Written communication
 

Secure tests may include live proctoring, identity verification and AI-assisted monitoring.
Level Check and Demo assessments are not proctored.
 

The Company reserves the right to amend assessment content, structure, timing, delivery format or scoring methodology at any time.
 

3. Technical Requirements
 

Candidates are responsible for ensuring they meet the minimum technical requirements, including:
 

• Stable internet connection
• Functional webcam and microphone (for proctored tests)
• Use of a desktop or laptop device where required
 

Mobile phones and tablets may not be supported.
 

Failure to meet technical requirements does not automatically entitle a candidate to a refund.
 

4. Identity Verification (Secure Tests)
 

For proctored assessments:
 

• Candidates must provide valid photographic identification
• Facial verification and/or profile image comparison may be conducted
• Continuous webcam monitoring may occur during testing
 

Failure to comply with identity verification requirements may result in test termination without refund.
 

5. Misconduct and Irregular Behaviour
 

The following may result in immediate termination without refund:
 

• Impersonation
• Receiving assistance from third parties
• Use of unauthorised materials or devices
• Attempting to disable or interfere with monitoring systems
• Abusive or disruptive behaviour
 

The Company reserves the right to withhold or invalidate results where misconduct is suspected.
 

6. Results and Certification
 

Where applicable:
 

• Results are issued electronically
• Certificates are digital (e-certificates)
• Certification reflects performance at the time of testing only

STEP-UK certificates:

• Are not approved for UK visa, immigration or government-regulated academic admission
• Are intended for benchmarking, employment screening, training placement and internal assessment purposes
 

Replacement certificates are issued free of charge upon verification of identity.
 

Amendments to personal details after certificate issuance are subject to a £10 administrative fee.
 

7. Limitation of Liability
 

The Company shall not be liable for:
 

• Candidate device failure
• Internet connectivity issues
• Third-party platform interruptions
• Events outside our reasonable control
 

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the assessment.
 

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
 

8. Refunds and Cancellations
 

Refunds are governed by the separate STEP-UK Cancellation & Refund Policy published on this website.
 

9. Data Protection
 

Personal data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR and our Privacy Policy.
 

For proctored assessments, webcam images and monitoring data may be collected for integrity and security purposes.
 

10. Amendments
 

The Company reserves the right to update these Terms at any time.

The version in force at the time of purchase shall apply to that transaction.
 

11. Governing Law
 

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
