Service Description
OVERVIEW The STEP-UK English Level Check is a structured online diagnostic assessment designed to provide an indicative estimate of a candidate’s current English proficiency in alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This assessment is suitable for placement, internal screening and personal benchmarking purposes. WHAT THE ASSESSMENT COVERS The Level Check evaluates core language components including reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and grammar and vocabulary control. The assessment is automatically scored to ensure consistency and reliability. RESULTS AND REPORT DELIVERY Upon completion of the assessment, responses are processed and reviewed before a professionally presented mini report is prepared. The report is sent to the candidate’s registered email address within 48 hours of test completion. The report includes an estimated CEFR band from A1 to C1, a brief performance summary, the date of assessment and candidate identification details. PURPOSE AND LIMITATIONS This Level Check is not proctored and is not a secure examination. No certificate is issued. The results are indicative only and intended for guidance, placement or internal use. This assessment is not approved for immigration, visa or regulated academic admission purposes. DURATION AND FEE The assessment takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes to complete. The fee is £12. The mini report is delivered within 48 hours of completion.
Cancellation Policy
Booking Policy: All bookings must be completed using your correct full name and email address. Your test link will be emailed to you before your scheduled session. You are responsible for ensuring you have a stable internet connection, a working webcam and microphone, and a quiet environment suitable for testing. Profile Photo Requirement: All test takers must upload a clear profile photo to their STEP UK account before the test. This photo is used solely for identification and test security during the session. Bookings without a profile photo may be delayed or refused. Cancellations & Rescheduling: You may cancel or reschedule your booking up to 24 hours before your test time. After this period, changes are not permitted. If you miss your session, arrive too late to begin, or are unable to complete the test due to personal or technical issues (including internet failure, device problems, or unsuitable environment), the booking is considered used, and a new test must be purchased. No-Show Policy: Failure to attend your scheduled test, or joining more than 10 minutes after the start time, will be recorded as a no-show. No refunds or rescheduling are available for missed sessions. Refunds: All test purchases are non-refundable once confirmed. Please ensure you understand all requirements before booking. If STEP UK must cancel or postpone a test for any reason, you will be offered a free reschedule. Test Access & Certificate: You will receive your test link by email before your test. Certificates are issued only to customers who purchase the Test + Certificate Bundle. Certificates are for personal assessment only and are not suitable for immigration or official visa purposes. Waitlist Policy: If a test slot is full, you may join the waitlist. You will be notified automatically if a space becomes available. Places are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed. Important Notes: By booking a test, you agree to follow all STEP UK test rules, including camera usage and academic honesty. STEP UK reserves the right to update this policy at any time.
